The husband of a Madison Police officer charged with using high-tech gear to stalk the officer and her new boyfriend, also a police officer, was put on probation for three years today. The decision came with numerous conditions, among them that he have no contact with his estranged wife or the Madison Police Department. Dustin Farberg, 34, entered no contest pleas to three misdemeanors in the case and was put on probation on those counts. He also entered no contest pleas on counts of stalking his estranged wife, Amy Bramlett, and Jeffrey Pharo, the man she began seeing after leaving Farberg. As part of a plea bargain reached with the prosecution, Farberg can move the court to dismiss the felony stalking charges if he successfully completes his probation on the misdemeanor counts; The prosecution will not oppose that motion... The conditions include that he not have any contact with Bramlett or members of her family, that he have contact with their daughter only as ordered by the family court handling the couple's divorce proceedings, that he have no contact with Pharo, and that he complete both anger management and domestic abuse counseling. Farber was also banned from a number of specific locations in Madison. He was also ordered not to have a computer except for employment use, and not to possess any global positioning system device or software to allow him to track computer use as he did to his estranged wife. Before being put on probation Farberg told the court he regretted his actions, apologized for them, and said "I just want to move forward with my life"... [Full article here]
