Update: Ex-Wausau cop gets 3 years for trying to kill wife

SHAWANO -- A former Wausau police officer who investigators say tried to kill his wife in September by crashing his truck into a rural Shawano County bridge will spend three years in prison followed by two years of extended supervision. Chueng Lee, 46, was sentenced late this afternoon.

Chueng Lee, 46, of Weston, entered no-contest pleas on May 20 to felony charges of recklessly causing great bodily harm to another human and reckless driving causing great bodily harm after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. The deal came following the first day of testimony at his trial.

Lee’s wife, Chao Lee, told police at the scene that he tried to kill her. At today’s sentencing hearing, she asked Shawano County Judge Thomas Grover to free her husband so that he can work and support her financially. Without him, her children will put her in a nursing home, she said.

“I don’t know why I just didn’t die that day,” Chao Lee said.

After serving his prison time, Chueng Lee will also be on extended supervision for two years. Lee would have faced a prison sentence of up to 80 years if convicted of the original charges of first-degree attempted homicide, battery and second-degree sexual assault.

The felony conviction prevents Chueng Lee from being a police officer again. [Source]

I pray someone gives Chao a job and empowers her to have more choices.
Please help her!!!
