A Colorado Springs police officer was arrested Friday in Pueblo on charges of domestic violence and attempted burglary. Officer Christopher Raymond Garcia, 38 of Pueblo is a patrol officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Gold Hills Subdivision. He's been on the force with C.S.P.D. since 2000.

According to the police report, Garcia and his ex-girlfriend had been exchanging text messages Thursday night when she stopped responding and Garcia began calling her.

She didn't answer the calls and contacted a Pueblo police officer and asked him to come to her home in Belmont to answer some questions for her. She said she felt harassed by Garcia and wanted the calls to stop but "didn't want to get him in trouble."

At around 4:00 a.m. Friday, while the Pueblo cop was at the home, Garcia showed up. He rang the doorbell, and then slid open a window near the front door, knocking over a lamp in the process. The officer then called to report Garcia as an unwanted party.

Garcia and the victim had previously lived together at the home and have a daughter together. He moved out in January after they broke off their relationship.

Following an investigation Friday, Garcia was placed in custody on charges of Second Degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Harassment and Domestic Violence. He will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation is taking place. The Pueblo Police Department's Internal Affairs Division is also investigating this case. [LINK]
