[Excerpts] SALINAS, Calif - In court transcripts obtained by Your Central Coast News, KION has learned new details in the case against Timothy Rodriguez. Rodriguez, a correctional officer at the Salinas Valley State Prison, was arrested on September 9 in Salinas after soliciting a murder for hire from an undercover police officer posing as a hit man... The transcripts tell how Rodriguez "stalked" the victim to check on her "comings and goings" but at this time there is still no apparent motive. The victim and the suspect may have dated years ago. In taped conversations with the undercover officer Rodriguez allegedly detailed how he wanted the murder to take place. "He wanted a revolver used because he didn't want to leave shell casings. He wanted one to her chest, one to her head, presumably to make sure she was dead. He wanted her purse stolen. He wanted the Blackberry brought to as proof that she was dead," said Deputy DA Somers. The transcripts say that Rodriguez knew that the victim's husband was not home and that he suggested to the undercover officer that he kill the victim in front of her young daughter.
