[Excerpts] A Phoenix police officer is in jail after a witness reported the suspect was involved in a domestic violence situation. Sunday at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call after a witness reported Sutton Wohlman, 29, was choking a female... the witness intervened in the assault before calling police. The first officer to arrive on scene attempted to detain Wohlman by placing him in handcuffs, but Wohlman tried to resist. Additional officers were called to the scene to take him into custody... The witness and the girlfriend told authorities Wohlman was choking the girlfriend to the point where she had trouble breathing... he apparently raised his arm as he was going to punch the girlfriend... The witness called police. The girlfriend got away and ran to the witness for help. An officer arrived and found Wohlman seated on the floor of the garage...
