A Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy has been suspended following his arrest on a domestic violence charge.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Eric Weaver faces one count of simple battery.

Sheriff’s Capt. Tim House said Weaver, 29, was released Wednesday from the Forsyth County Detention Center after posting bond.

“He is on administrative leave until the conclusion of this investigation,” House said.

The arrest occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, after deputies were summoned to a house on Little Mill Road in reference to a physical domestic dispute.

The confrontation had reportedly occurred at Weaver’s Paddocks Mill Drive home.

According to the sheriff’s report, Weaver’s wife said the couple got into an argument on the way home from a relative’s house.

Twice during the trip, he reportedly drove off after stopping the vehicle for her to get out. Both times, he returned to pick her up, the report showed.

Once home, Weaver reportedly blocked her from entering a bedroom. Her left hand and leg got caught in the door as he shut it, according to the report.

The report went on to note the woman eventually called a relative, who took her and the couple’s children to the Little Mill home.

Deputies noted the woman had an injured finger. They then attempted unsuccessfully to contact Weaver.

After further investigation, warrants were taken out for Weaver’s arrest, House said.

Weaver has been with the sheriff’s office since October 2006.
